Meet the crew!

Hey everyone! I’m back again, and today, I’m going to be telling you about my Work-In-Progress story, Tales of Karnall. I have mentioned it before, but I never really went into detail with it. Tales of Karnall is about a group of animals that become friends and go on a journey to find a home for their Leads. The Leads are sort of like kingdoms, something based off of that. This story is still in it’s early process, so I won’t have much to tell, but I am proud to say that today I finished the first part of my Story-Making process; Designing my Characters. I will admit that these current forms of them are not the finished products, they could still change and grow while I continue to outline and plan my story. Tales of Karnall will have four protagonists, each of them from a different Lead. This story of mine will be my first public story, that I will be posting here, on WinterStudio, as well as on my YouTube Channel. Four protagonists will definitely be a challenge, but I decided just to go for it. I have written a couple stories in the past, but those I never finished, and most probably never will, and neither will they ever see the light of day again. Moving on, I originally planned for Tales of Karnall to be a short story but…. The story was stubborn, it demanded to be more than a short story. I could do nothing, it was too strong! I will still try to keep it as short as possible, but I don’t think it would be a story you’d be able to read in a couple hours or so.
Kodiak is the first Character, he is from the Lead with wolves, he will be the leader of the little group.
Then there is Aspen, she is from the Lead containing Raccooons, I imagined her to be more like the big sister of the group, hehe.
Dakota is from the Lead full of bears, he’s the cuddly peace-maker. Bear. Cuddly. Original right?
And finally, Ellwood is from the Lead of Crows, the grumpy one.
Now that I’m saying this out loud, this sounds so unoriginal haha, but don’t worry, there’s more about them that will make them stand out. I just won’t tell you yet, ha-ha! Not right this moment, at least.

Say hello to Ellwood! This is quite a simple design, and it’s not exactly what he looks like for the story. He’ll have a little band he wears and uses to carry shiny objects, like rocks and shells etc. I had decided to give my Leads some human-like things, because I want this to be a fantasy world, and right now it’s quite bland, but when I get into world building, I’ll definitely enjoy to make things more interesting. I might even tweak the species of each of the Leads and make them look different. Who knows what future world-building me will do?
As you can see in the picture, I used lots of sharp shapes in Ellwood’s design, because he’s so grumpy and anti-social. For Ellwood’s colouring, I thought maybe I’d put in a splash of white in there, because I’ve seen crows that have white patterns on their feathers, but instead I decided upon giving him a Blue-and-Purple shine to his black feathers, so that he can look kind of as interesting as what he collects, but I won’t make it too present until later on.

Dakota is obviously the lazy and peaceful one of the group. Both him and Aspen, the raccoon, are the two peacemakers of the group, as they unite together to go against the war between their Leads. Dakota’s Lead has ended up hating work, and the entirety of Bears have become lazy, and so has Dakota, so when he went out with the group on the journey, even though he didn’t like to, he still ended up bashing heads with the others as well. Especially since they were all from different Leads, for the beginning of the story they are all going to be uneasy and aggressive towards one another.

And here’s Aspen! Her Lead is governed a lot by fear, so she’s the nervous and skittish one of the group. But don’t underestimate her, she’s taken care of eight siblings! She can deal with you if she has to! And like I said earlier, Aspen will be kind of like the big sister of the group, since she has so much experience taking care of eight younger siblings. She has an older brother as well, but he works in the Council, the leaders of her Lead, and they don’t see much of each other any more.

And finally, Kodiak! I think he might be the character I’m most fond of. Don’t tell the others I said that! He’s going to be the one who gets the group together, to rebel against what’s going on in the Leads. Kodiak will probably be an interesting character, just to give you an idea of what he’s like, he gives off a little bit of that crazy-and-overly-eager wizard vibes. Just a bit. This man right here is very childish, and thinks too highly of himself. But you just can’t help liking him, trust me. Even though he might want everything to go his way, he’s very loyal, and- oh just look at that face! C’mon! Admit it, you already kind of like him! Just a tiny bit, right?

Well, that is all I have to say for these four friends. Don’t worry, you’ll all hear more about them soon! I also just wanted to celebrate over the fact that I now have seventeen subscribers on my Channel! It’s definitely exciting to see it slowly grow, and I can’t wait to do more as it does grow. I’ve got lots planned. I don’t know if you could tell already, but I absolutely love planning! I’ve got a whole list of markers, each marker (number of subscribers) I hit, I do something new for my Channel, and/or post more often! My next marker is 20 Subscribers, and when I hit that, I’ll start making videos with Voiceovers as well as Tutorials!
